Despite the absolutely freezing conditions on Tuesday we had quite a turnout to the book group. In fact, in my pessimism about anyone’s commitment, we managed to run out of chairs! That having been said, not everyone had actually finished Felix Holt so the discussion was a little odd. I think that perhaps the cold January weather had rather inhibited anyone’s desire to plough through what is not one of George Eliot’s greatest novels.
Anyway, we’ve got something much lighter to read through what remains of February. Our next book is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and we’ll be meeting at 7.30pm in the shop on Wednesday 7th March.
Tea and coffee will be provided but you fancy something a little stronger, bring your own.
We don’t require any committment so if you don’t fancy this book or you’re not available on the seventh you can always come next time.
As a small aside, the plan is that our next book will be David Copperfield and we’ll probably take two months to read it (so meeting in May which seems very far away!) so if you fancy getting in on this year’s Dickens action, get reading!
