This month we are going to be discussing The Periodic Table by Primo Levi which is a collection of short stories which mix fiction, memoir and allegory to give a picture of the author’s life. The Royal Institution voted it the best science book ever but it covers much more than just chemistry including the experience of working in wartime Italy. Primo Levi is perhaps more famous for If This Is A Man, his account of being in Auschwitz but this book is also lauded as a moving and fascinating work.
We’ll be meeting at 7.30pm on the 29th of July in the shop. Tea and coffee will be provided but you fancy something a little stronger please bring your own.
We don’t require any committment so if you don’t fancy this book or you’re not available this month you can always come next time.
Questions and suggestions for our next book are always welcome.
