7th of December: Perseus and Danae

This print is taken from The Heroes, Greek Fairy Tales for My Children by Charles Kingsley. The copy this print is taken from was illustrated by George Soper and was published in the 1930s. It shows Danae and her son Perseus who was conceived by Zeus who appeared in the form of golden rain. Danae’s father was told by an oracle that his grandson would kill him so he dispatched Danae and Perseus in a wooden chest.
